  BIOGRAPHY

Richard Krajicek's blazing serve and aggressive net play made an almost immediate impact when he joined the ATP tour at age 18. Krajicek's game was perfect for Wimbledon, and in 1996 he had a dream fortnight. He toppled defending champion Pete Sampras in the quarterfinals and went on to become the first Dutchman to ever win a major. That victory made Krajicek the only player to defeat Sampras during his incredible 8-year run at Wimbledon. Now married with children and residing in his native Netherland, Richard plays competitively on the Champions circuit and also is the tournament director for the ABN Amro ATP event in Rotterdam.

  CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
Captured his first pro tour title in Hong Kong in 1991.
Made the season-ending ATP Tour Championships (top eight players in the world) in 1992 and finished in the Top 10 – the first Dutchman to do so since Tom Okker in 1975.
Won Wimbledon title in 1996, defeating Sampras in the quarterfinal, while only losing on set throughout the entire tournament.
Led the pro tour in aces and service games won in 1999.
In 2000 Krajicek was elected ATP Tour Comeback Player of the Year and received Arthur Ashe Humanitarian of the Year award for his contributions to youth in The Netherlands.
