Richard Krajicek's blazing serve and aggressive net play made an almost immediate impact when he joined the ATP tour at age 18. Krajicek's game was perfect for Wimbledon, and in 1996 he had a dream fortnight. He toppled defending champion Pete Sampras in the quarterfinals and went on to become the first Dutchman to ever win a major. That victory made Krajicek the only player to defeat Sampras during his incredible 8-year run at Wimbledon. Now married with children and residing in his native Netherland, Richard plays competitively on the Champions circuit and also is the tournament director for the ABN Amro ATP event in Rotterdam. |
